We operate throughout Thailand, and mainly in 3 areas:

Surin, Thailand
This is in the Eastern part of Thailand – in the part of the country know as Isaan – towards the borders with Cambodia and Laos.

Isaan is economically the poorest part of the country

But culturally it is one of the richest.

It is most famous for the Elephant Festival. Thai people hold the elephant in great esteem. At the festival, more than 200 elephants from the surrounding region gather for the biggest elephant party you’ll ever see.

Ayutthaya, Thailand

This is the former capital of Thailand (from 1350 to 1767)

For history buffs; but not only for history buffs. Ancient ruins and art works abound

Ayutthaya is only 40 miles from Bangkok (about 1 hour by air-conditioned coach – which run about every half hour – at a cost of about 70 pence) – or longer and more relaxing by boat on the Chao Phraya river - so Ayutthaya is easily accessible to Bangkok – but without Bangkok prices or traffic jams.

Kham Phaeng Phet, Thailand
Chonburi is a coastal province in the Eastern Seaboard area, towards the border with Cambodia.

It is flat rather than hilly, and has access to some of the islands in the Gulf of Thailand.

It is a rather more developed area than some others (such as Surin), with extensive shopping facilities.

It is also nearer for access to Bangkok, with good coach services to the capital and a journey there of about an hour and a half.

If there’s another part of Thailand where you would particularly like to be based, including Bangkok, if you wish, or a coastal or mountain location, let us know, and we may be able to organise a placement there for you.
Out Team in Thailand
Our Programme Manager in Thailand is Dr Chawalert Lertchalolarn. He was until recently employed full-time as Associate Dean in the International Relations Office of the Faculty of Education at Chulalongkorn University (the oldest and most prestigious of the Thai universities. He now works part-time with the Ministry of Education and part time with us.

Our Programme Co-ordinator in Thailand is Dr Nuanpachong Udornpim (Nuan). Her background is teaching in the Faculty of Education at Burapha University.

We work also with a number of universities in Thailand, including the Rajabhat Universities - the “teacher training universities”, which provide teacher training courses for Thai teachers who teach English (or other subjects) in schools. So they have good expertise (and good teaching materials) in teaching English as a Foreign Language. The universities which we work with include:

Surindra Rajabhat University
Phranakhon Si Ayutthaya Rajabhat University
Burapha University

You will have access to a “tutor” from the local university as an adviser (and as a help-line) relating to teaching English in a Thai school.
